An ink blot comes to life and helps a boy who can't draw create a comic book for his class project. Ethan has been chosen to do the illustrations for his class comic book project, but there's one small problem...he can't draw! His friends are relying on him and smug Vika is just waiting for him to fail. The pressure is on. Then a spirited ink blot mysteriously splashes into Ethan's home. Inkling seems like the perfect solution - after all, he was made for drawing! But Ethan had better watch out. He's not the only one to see Inkling's potential.

Reviews

Erin - White Hills Park Federation - 2020

When I started to read Inkling I thought that it was quite funny. I really enjoyed the humorous side and also that it showed the rivalry between Ethan and his classmate. I would recommend this book to someone who likes humorous books as this one is really good. I liked Ethan's dad because you could tell he was sad and struggling with his job but Inkling helped him.

Iris - White Hills Park Federation - 2020

A very interesting book I love the way the author portrayed Inkling as if he had human qualities. It almost seemed like he was human because he had emotions and fears just like us. I would recommend this book to a 12 year old or older. On the whole i love the book and the characters and would love to know more about the alien like creature who is Inkling

Maya - Bulwell Academy - 2020

Inkling was a unique and quirky book that had my constant attention while I was reading it. The idea behind it was very creative and I felt that the way it was written was practically drawing me in! The story is unlike anything I have read before and I am very glad I have had the opportunity to read this. I would recommend this to everyone willing for a thrilling and meaningful story!

Beth - Nottingham Girls High School - 2020

It was an incredibly imaginative story about something that usually isn’t written about. It still had a plot though, and a few twists, the ending is slightly emotional, and you can’t put it down.

Mya - Nottingham Girls High School - 2020

I really enjoyed Inkling . It was a wonderful book. I think the end was rather strange.

Evelyn - Nottingham Girls High School - 2020

Inkling is a very enjoyable book. The author created an imaginitive and emotional story.

Isobel - Nottingham Girls High School - 2020

I really enjoyed the creativity of this book.

Grace - Nottingham Girls High School - 2020

This book was definitely my type of story. I liked Inkling’s personality and it is very creative. This is one of my favourite BBA books, and the ending was really cool!

Rachel - Nottingham Girls High School - 2020

The imagination in this book was great.I love how this author used their imagination.Personally,I don’t really read these sort of books but I still really enjoyed it.The ending was a bit strange; still a good book.

Doug - Arnold Hill Academy - 2020

I liked inkling because it has a very good opening with introducing inkling immediately. I enjoyed the part when inkling was introduced to Ethan's dad. The part when inkling was rescued reminded me of something that should be in a film. The relationship that inkling and Ethan build is very heart warming. Blotter reminds me of some classic evil clone villains. It is a very good book that has quite a few twists that you wouldn't expect. over all I give it a 5 out of 5.

Max - Carlton Le Willows Academy - 2020

A fun story. Exciting story. Maybe suitable for year 6s.

Kai - Outwood Academy Kirkby - 2020

I really liked this book because Inkling and Ethan had a very close friendship. I also liked this book because I like the idea of Inkling being a part of Ethan's dad's mind.

Harriet - Rushcliffe Spencer Academy - 2020

Inkling is an inspirational story of learning a new skill. It gives a special message of how people can change, whether that is getting better at something or just learning to see what is right in sticky situations! This book has inspired some people to write their own comic book!

Ruby - Carlton Le Willows Academy - 2020

this is a very cleverly written book that tells of the hardship of loosing a loved one. Yet this isn't a harrowing tale but one of a curious ink splodge whose kindness and helpfulness could get him in a sticky situation. This book was surprisingly funny with very funny lines. Nearer the end the book gets a bit sadder but the ending is arguably good

Rhys - Outwood Academy Kirkby - 2020

I like this book, the idea of a living ink blot being scared of the world sounds like a new idea. Some characters dont have a lot of personality but they arent shown a lot in the book. Altogether a good book.

Clara - Arnold Hill Academy - 2020

I thought inkling was a really good read and I would love to have a friend like inkling because I think he would be a really loyal companion and you would never be alone because he's the sort of friend who'll come with you anywhere. Also I love to draw so I would love a friend to share that interest with.

Rhianna - National Church of England Academy - 2020

I liked Inkling because the spolge was heartwarming :)

Charlotte - National Church of England Academy - 2020

I have given this book a rating of 3 stars out of 5. My favorite part in Inkling was when Mr Rylance created a new comic about Inkling after he was immersed into the sketchbook. I didn't enjoy this as much as some of the other books because it felt as though it was repeating itself throughout the story.

Rhoda - National Church of England Academy - 2020

I found it quite interesting but the story was quite predictable
