Reviews

Lizi - Nottingham Girls High School - 2024

This plot was very easy to predict as soon as the tracker was found! It was quite funny but it started then stopped and repeated the same joke over and over again. It wasn’t the funniest and was like a lot of comedy books I have read. The golden eagles tracker was obvious as soon as the police came. Overall, it was written well but not very funny.

Hilary - White Hills Park Federation - 2024

The story plot was a bit confusing, however was quite interesting to read. Kit seriously liked mysteries and seemed quite excited to investigate about it. Firstly he didn't seem happy that his brother, Max, had to join, however he decided to appreciate Max joining soon.

Hollie-Mae Burton - White Hills Park Federation - 2024

I recommend this book because, this is very good for the age range of 7-13. And, it gives lots of fun, sad and exciting moments, the main character, Kit and his brother, Jack go on lots of adventures!

Oliver - White Hills Park Federation - 2024

This was a great book that I enjoyed reading. It was completely original and included lots of facts.

Erin - White Hills Park Federation - 2024

This book had a mystery and a fun friendship built along the way from "outcast kid Kit" and "Popular girl Tamora". The solving of the mystery and the friendship built really adds to the book. I've rated it 3 stars as it could have been better but its amazing

Gracie Rose - Nottingham Girls High School - 2024

I loved this book so much! I loved everything about it for me it was really nice and enjoyable to read. My favourite part was when Kit found out that it wasn't McNab who was hunting the eagles because it shows to not judge a book by its cover! Thank you for this awesome book!

Alexis - Nottingham Girls High School - 2024

The characters were well thought out but I felt the storyline was a bit confusing. I didn't understand why they decided to help Adler. I found the story quite funny.

Celia - Nottingham Girls High School - 2024

Even though this is not the type of book I would normally pick, I really enjoyed it. The characters were really interesting and well thought out. The plot was very funny and full of surprises and adventure, but I just thought that the ending could have been a bit more exciting, though overall this is a great read.

Susan - Nottingham Girls High School - 2024

When Things Went Wild was quite a funny book, but I don’t personally like funny books so I’m going to give it three stars. I love the gold text and blue cover as well as the picture of the front of the book.

Laura - Outwood Academy Kirkby - 2024

I like how it started all gloomy and then she just moves on to a good new school and he gets a good project to work about. It was all right and probably the best book I yet read from this competition.

Jemimah - Magnus Church of England Academy - 2024

When Things Went Wild was a good book but like The Octopus , Dadu and Me the story line was a bit far fetched. I didn't feel like I could relate to it as much as some of the other books.

Frances - Nottingham Girls High School - 2024

It was a simple and enjoyable read with less Scottish dialect than I expected. The characters all had very different personalities which made their names and backgrounds easier to remember. When Duncan was first mentioned, I thought we would get to know him and the other people at Kit’s school better than we did. The plot began in the first couple of chapters and there wasn’t too much talk about the characters first. I really enjoyed reading this book.

Aimee - Outwood Academy Kirkby - 2024

It was very interesting for me and I love when they saw the eagle but they were too shocked that they did not take a photo.

Milena - Nottingham Girls High School - 2024

It was a very funny book full of action pack adventure and it was a really good plot. I loved this book!

Sarah - Nottingham Girls High School - 2024

I really liked this book and I liked the setting and descriptions a lot. I think it was good!

Sophia - Nottingham Girls High School - 2024

I really liked this book because it was a good mystery book which made me want to keep reading. I’m not a big fan of the cover though because it doesn’t explain that much of the book. But I still think it is a great book with a good plot.

Charlotte - White Hills Park Federation - 2024

The cover saying 'mayhem in the middle of nowhere' fits really well. I found it hard to follow at some parts but overall an amazing book!

Chloe - White Hills Park Federation - 2024

This is a really catchy and exciting book to read. There is an easy to follow story line and I would 100% recommend this to my friends. Overall this book is a 4/5 because there is always room for improvement.

Maxwell - White Hills Park Federation - 2024

It was very interesting and was a very unusual plot but worked very well and I would recommend it.

Ayomide - Outwood Academy Kirkby - 2024

This book was all about saving nature and I found that inspiring. We especially need this with climate change affecting our near future. It shows how kids can make a change no matter where they are.

Diana - Nottingham Girls High School - 2024

I enjoyed the wildlife theme of this book, and I also enjoyed how it tied into a mystery theme. I didn't like the style it was written in, but overall I thought it was a really funny book.
